tuesday tunes: best coast

Best Coast - 'Our Deal' - Directed By Drew Barrymore - Music - More Music Videos

Can't get enough of Best Coast's album "Crazy for You". I listened to it a ton last summer and it's making a come back again. It's just my ultimate summertime record. Plus, it makes me nostalgic for last summer living by the beach. I really need to go on and listen to their new album, but I just can't get back my first love of their first. Love this video too, sad, but an interesting West Side Story take. And interestingly enough, directed by Drew Barrymore. How bought that?!

4th of july

Fireworks truly amaze me. Especially the ones that look like pixie dust falling over the city. The 4th of July was spent frolicking around the city of Manhattan with good friends, beating the heat with lots of water and popsicles. And then scouting out a place in Hoboken to watch a spectacular show of explosions in the sky, with the New York skyline in the background. Can't get much better than that, I must say. :) Truly Thankful!

relaxing weekly wrapup

How refreshing does that water look?! And those mountains?? Gorgeous. While I have been dying for trip to some far away land lately (California, the Mediterranean, heck, even Canada!) I was happy to spend the weekend completely relaxing in the suburbs of New Jersey. Beating the heat with seeing Spiderman, renting the Iron Lady, and ordering some local Italian for dinner was the perfect way to wind down.

Beat the Heat with
these guys.

It's
NYC Restaurant Week (for 20 days??)

Secrets of New York

Wonderful
graphics and interesting theory....

Roman Holiday is playing tomorrow on Bryant Park's Lawn

My favorite new
concert website to find all the free concerts and more in the area!

The heat is making me want to swim in
this pool so bad! And then maybe grab a nice cocktail afterwards at their bar.

For a good
laugh :)

Enjoying the
redesign of this Atlanta bloggers home.

Chill out to witanddelight's
summer playlist.

Makes me want to travel!

J.Crew's swim collection is pretty freaking cute.

Especially,
this one!

I can't wait to show more about this past week with the 4th of July and my friends being up in the city! Such fun exploring and spending some good quality time together. It's never enough time though! :( It just slips by so fast. I can not wait until I'm reunited with my sweet group of friends, whenever that may be. As for next weekend, I'll be flying back down south in order to pack up my sweet Auburn apartment. But I don't want to think about that now.

That One Time

...when we made Paula Deen Cinnamon Rolls!

Back in December, when Ryan visited Connecticut, we decide to try out a cinnamon roll recipe. Not too shabby for our first go at it! Ryan used to work at a bakery, so he knew more about the yeast and dough and such. I think we could have changed up the icing some and added more cinnamon sugar.

That's just the sweet tooth in me I guess :)

Busy Bee!

This morning I read
this great article on being busy. Sometimes when I have nothing to do, I feel like I'm doing something wrong. Especially when I'm at work. Tim Kreider offers an interesting view of catching a break.

Speaking of a break and relaxing, I love this scene from HBO's Girls.
Sometimes you just need to dance on your own. Or with a friend :)

Zsa Zsa Zoom: Weekly WrapUp

The story behind this photo absolutely blows my mind. Zsa Zsa Gabor held a party for herself and 10 eligible bachelors and danced with each guest twice. Oh, the life of a 1950s socialite. Just "because"! From 1937-present, she has gone through 9 husbands!! Nine!!

Wasn't she just such a beauty?

Big Sur getaway

Soap that looks like icing. Makes me hungry...

Wishing I lived out on the West Coast, just for these!

Been saving up for this dress to wear to a fancy party, or maybe even the 1920's Jazz Festival??

Hope everyone has had a good weekend! I've been enjoying a few days away from the city with my family, enjoying fireworks and pool parties and good food! Going to see the movie Brave tonight, should be entertaining. The movies is always such a fun experience to take you away from the real world for a couple hours.

Ta ta!

Wanderings

1. Anna Kate and I spent my first day in Hoboken enjoying a burger with some Jack and Coke, while doing some pretty stellar people watching. There was a BMX crew just hanging around, ranging from a young high school girl to a dad with his kid on the front of the bike. Super interesting.
2. View from Hoboken looking over to Manhattan. There's a cute green space where people go to lay out on summer weekends and listen to some live music!
3. The two of ready for our first day in the real working world. Cheesey, maybe. But it'll be a defining moment to look back on one day and see where we started.
4. Part of my beautiful walk home. Not too shabby of a sunset, but nothing can top an Auburn sunset!
5. Sangria Sunday. The best thing ever.
6. It felt like it rained the entire first week! We got trapped in a downpour on our way back from dinner one night. Soaked to the bone.
7. Our very first time navigating the NYC subway system. Anna Kate had a foot up on me, having gotten to the city a week early. Still learning.......
8. Just a part of my daily life now. How crazy is that?!

City That Never Sleeps: NYC

I am here!

I can not wait to update with my adventure that is New York (well...and some of Hoboken as well) I have survived my first week in the working world in the Big Apple and I am happily exhausted. Though a weekend spent on the coast of Connecticut did leave me feeling refreshed this Monday morning. My sweet friend is hosting me in her apartment until my situation becomes somewhat more stable and it sure is a fun journey. It's been great having someone to have with me on my commute and to be there to chat about jobs and adjustments- like walking EVERYWHERE or getting lost on the subway or trying to figure out where has the best burger, drinks, or cupcakes (more on that later) in town. I have many updates to share from this past winter and spring in Nashville, so more on that later, and much more to come with NYC :)

Funny thing is, I'm getting much more sleep here than normal!

What's your favorite part about exploring a new city?

So Fresh!

Hot weather has arrived in the South. And it's not joking around. I returned to Auburn, Alabama with my apartments air conditioning broken. Open windows and fans have been our solution until today when it got fixed! In the meantime though, I tried out some refreshing fruit water. I'm already so bad at drinking enough of it, but sprucing it up with my favorite fruit makes it so tasty (and pretty looking too!) Today I tried out some blueberry and lemon water. I figure I'll switch it up each week.

Check out this site for a neat blackberry sage water drink.

I'm looking forward to finding some more fun summer ideas to try out in the kitchen. Any suggestions?

Boogie on Down

Ole 280 Boogie:

Traveled down to Waverly, Alabama the other weekend for the Old 280 Boogie. Got us some fruit, beer, and blankets- we were set. It was a great time with friends, music, and some good ole fashion hula-hooping. I was introduced to the band Hurray for the Riff Raff, who have got the best folky and twangy sound. Loved their performance. Check out some videos below of their music!

It's been 5 months since you've looked at me...

It's true. I have neglected my blog. The ever forgotten daily entries. My bad. Hopefully I can step up my game. I have a lot to catch up on. For example: I graduated in December and came up to Nashville for a pretty stellar internship at Hatch Show Print, but more on that later.

And that's not all.... alas! Some recent work I've done that hasn't yet made it up to my website. Just a few little peaks at some projects that I've finished up in the past few weeks.

It has been a busy couple months, but in the best way possible.

Many more updates to come.

xo, K.
